Lord Jones Excellence in Advocacy event

Lord Jones Excellence in Advocacy event

An open invitation is being extended to the second Lord Jones Excellence in Advocacy event in Edinburgh.

Speakers will include Mark Mulholland QC, former chair of the Bar of Northern Ireland, and current vice-chair of the Hong Kong-based International Advocacy Training Council and external assessor for the Faculty of Advocates’ quality assurance programme.

He will be joined by Kenneth Campbell QC, and John Sturrock QC.

A moot competition for The Mike Jones Excellence in Advocacy Prize will feature this year’s devils.

Mike Jones QC, and his colleague at the bar, John Sturrock QC, were pioneers of the Faculty’s renowned training programme which was established in the 1990s.

He went on to be elevated to the bench as Lord Jones but died in 2016 after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke. A prize in his memory for excellence in advocacy was launched by his family and the Faculty.

To register for the free event, to be held from 4pm on Friday, 15 November, in Parliament House, Edinburgh, see here.
