Lord Keen QC reappointed as Advocate General for Scotland

Lord Keen of Elie QC has been reappointed as Advocate General for Scotland.

Lord Keen was first appointed to the post in May 2015, becoming the first Conservative to hold the post.

Commenting on his reappointment, Lord Keen said: “It is a great honour to be reappointed as the Advocate General for Scotland, and I look forward to continuing to advise the UK Government on all aspects of Scots law.”

Mr Keen was admitted to the Faculty of Advoces in 1980 and was a standing junior counsel to the DTI in Scotland from 1986-93. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1993. In 2007, he was elected Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, and served in that office until 2014.

He stood down from that role in order to take up the role of chairman of the Scottish Conservative Party. He later left that role following his appointment as Advocate General.

He is a member of the bar in England and Wales and a Bencher of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.
