Lord Reed to deliver inaugural Lord Rodger lecture
The longstanding Lord Rodger Baltimore/Maryland Summer School Lecture will be delivered by Lord Reed this year.
The Comparative Law lecture in Aberdeen will also be chaired by Lord Hope.
Lord Rodger previously delivered this annual lecture to students on the Universities of Baltimore and Maryland Summer School. As his career evolved, he became Solicitor General, then Lord Advocate, a Senator of the College of Justice, Lord President and Lord Justice General, a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary and finally a Justice of the Supreme Court.
The lectures delivered by Lord Rodger were always highly anticipated, insightful and carefully prepared, only ending when Lord Rodger fell ill and subsequently passed away in 2011.
This year’s lecture will be followed by a reception and has been sponsored by Cloch Solicitors, whos principal, Philip Hannay, participated in the Universities of Baltimore and the Maryland Summer School in 1999.
Attendance at the lecture is free, to reserve a place please complete an online registration.
