Macdonald Henderson advises on the Disposal of Nursery Group to Brightstar Group
Macdonald Henderson has advised Robert Burns and Peter Hume and their families on the sale of two well-established Glasgow day nursery settings – Sinclair Nursery and Victoria Park Kindergarten – to Bright Stars which owns over 80 settings across England and Scotland.
Sinclair Nursery, which is located on Sinclair Drive, is registered to care for up to 98 children, and Victoria Park Kindergarten, located on Dumbarton Road, is registered for up to 140.
Mr Hume said: “We purchased Sinclair in September 2008 and Victoria in August 2015. We would probably have retired earlier if it wasn’t for the fact that the staff were amazing on both sites and made our life easy.”
“The sale went through smoothly thanks to the help from Christie & Co and our lawyers, Macdonald Henderson Solicitors. We have now retired and plan to spend more time on the golf course and going on holiday.”
Kirsty Ibbott, mergers and acquisition director at Bright Stars Nursery Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome two well-established nurseries into the Bright Stars nursery group, developing an even stronger support network within Glasgow, alongside our existing high-quality nurseries in Scotland. In keeping children’s best interests at the heart of all that we do, we look forward to supporting the nursery team and the families whilst enhancing on the foundation of these nurseries.”
Martin Daw, senior director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added: “It was a genuine pleasure to work for Peter and Robert, having got to know them when they opened their first nursery in 2008. We enjoyed regular catch ups on the golf course and the timing was right to introduce them to Bright Stars earlier this year.
“With a rise in demand for good nursery places over the last 18 months, there is appetite for operators to grow within the greater Glasgow area, and so we are likely to see increased activity throughout 2023.”
Sinclair Nursery and Victoria Park Kindergarten were sold for an undisclosed price.
