Maclay Murray & Spens recruits senior white collar crime specialist
Maclay Murray & Spens LLP (MMS) has recruited business and white collar crime specialist James McMillan as an associate in its commercial dispute resolution department. He will join the firm’s well established fraud, investigations and business crimes team led by accredited counter fraud specialist, Craig Kennedy.
The team combines specialist input from a range of disciplines, including health and safety (H&S) expert, Malcolm Gunnyeon and cartel and bribery specialist, Michael Dean. It advises on complex, high value, cross-border cases, and will be boosted by Mr McMillan’s expertise in both civil and criminal defence. In particular, he brings extensive experience in advocacy relating to fatal accident inquiries, H&S and white collar crime prosecutions. The team is further underpinned by the firm’s membership of Lex Mundi, which covers 160 jurisdictions worldwide
MMS CEO Kenneth Shand said: “James’ appointment strengthens our criminal defence capability and is an excellent addition to our team of very high quality specialist lawyers in complex but growing areas of the law. We are delighted to have a lawyer of his quality join the firm and I look forward to announcing further appointments in short order.”
