Macroberts appoints new partner
MacRoberts has appointed John McGovern (pictured) partner.
Mr McGovern heads a three-strong team appointed by the firm to further strengthen the intellectual property, technology & commercial (IPTC) practice group.
The former Glasgow Bar Association president, who is a finalist in the “specialist lawyer of the year” category at this year’s Scott & Co Scottish Legal Awards, joined from DAC Beachcroft Scotland (formerly Andersons).
Together with James McMillan, who becomes an associate, and David Magee, he will bring additional skills to MacRoberts’ regulatory compliance expertise.
Mr McGovern is the fifth new partner appointed by MacRoberts in the last two weeks and the seventh in four months as it continues to grow.
He is a solicitor advocate who has been practising criminal and regulatory defence work for over 25 years.
He is also a part-time tutor in advanced criminal law at the University of Glasgow.
Mr McGovern said: “MacRoberts is a firm for which I have great admiration and I am delighted to have this opportunity to join them with my team to provide specialist services to their existing clients and to expand their practice in this area.”
The latest additions were welcomed by managing partner John Macmillan.
Mr Macmillan said: “I am delighted that John, James and David are joining us, and bringing their considerable experience in regulatory work to complement the skills and expertise already at MacRoberts.”
