MacRoberts joins Stonewall UK Diversity Champions Programme
MacRoberts has become a member of the Stonewall UK Diversity Champions Programme.
Stonewall UK is a charity providing support and education to individuals on all LGBTQ+ issues, as well as providing tailored training to organisations to support employers in effectively training and enhancing their workforce.
Caroline Gillwood, head of Stonewall’s programmes in Scotland, said: “LGBT-inclusive employers play a crucial role in changing society by using their power and influence to proudly support LGBT people in their organisations. We are delighted that MacRoberts LLP have joined the Stonewall Scotland Diversity Champions Programme to demonstrate their commitment to championing lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality in the workplace.
“We are excited to work with MacRoberts over the coming months to help support their LGBT inclusion activities, to ensure that all LGBT people at work are accepted without exception.”
Employment partner John Macmillan, of the firm’s Diversity & Wellbeing Committee, said: “At MacRoberts, we firmly believe that everybody, irrespective of race, gender or sexual orientation, should feel comfortable being their true self at work and educating on these issues at a firmwide level is of paramount importance. Becoming a member of this programme enhances our commitment to being a fully inclusive organisation and we are looking forward to working with Stonewall over the coming months.”
MacRoberts is also showing its support for Glasgow Pride which takes place this weekend, with a bake sale and raffle taking place across its Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee offices today.
All staff are also encouraged to wear bright or rainbow-themed colours in celebration of Pride. All money raised will go to LGBTQ+ charity Time for Inclusive Education (TIE), which works to combat homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in schools with LGBT-inclusive education in Scotland.
