Major women in law event in Edinburgh next month
The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association is hosting its Women in Law seminar in Edinburgh next month.
The annual event brings together a number of high-profile and inspiring women from the Scottish and English legal communities to share their personal experiences and address our members on issues such as women’s rights in the UK and international context, women in the judiciary and boardroom, and whether the glass ceiling remains an issue for female lawyers in the 21st Century.
This year’s event will be chaired by Emma Boffey (associate at CMS/Junior Solicitor of the Year 2019/Past President of SYLA 2014-2016).
This year’s panel includes:
- Rachel Barrett - barrister - Cloisters.
- Susanne Tanner QC FCIArb - Ampersand Advocates & Crown Officers Chambers (E&W) - First-Tier Tribunal judge (chair) Housing and Property Chamber, Health and Education Chamber.
- Lisa Henderson QC - FCIArb - Ampersand Advocates (Scotland) & Crown Officers Chambers (E&W).
The event is kindly sponsored by Fraser Irvine Sheriff Officers again this year.
The event will take place on Tuesday 10 March 2020 at The Intercontinental Edinburgh The George, 19-21 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PB. Registration is from 6.30pm with speakers commencing at 7pm until 8.30pm. There will be a panel Q&A followed by a drinks reception and canapés.
£5 from every ticket price will be donated directly to Rape Crisis Scotland, which provides free confidential support and information for survivors of sexual violence and others affected by the issue by telephone, email and mail.
As this is one of the highlights of our calendar, demand is extremely high for this event. If you sign up and cannot make it on the night please let us know, so that your place can be reissued.
