Man found guilty of frightening staff at Law Society of Scotland
Law Society of Scotland receptionists became alarmed after a man got angry about not being able to see someone dealing with his complaint a court has heard.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, Kamal Alaroush, 52, was found guilty of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner – likely to make a reasonable person fearful.
In addition, he was found guilty of acting aggressively, shouting, gesticulating and showing a member of staff a photo of a man with a gun, saying: “That’s me. That’s me”.
Sheriff Gordon Liddle heard how the incident took place in October 2013 with receptionist Dorothy Young telling Mr Alaroush the person he wanted to see was not available after he said he had papers to give them.
Ms Young said: “He was not very happy about that.
“He said he really had to speak to somebody. I said I’d take the papers and hand them over”.
Ms Young added: “He was starting to get worked up. He went to his bag and took out a very large folder with lots of papers inside.”
The sheriff found Mr Alaroush guilty, deferring sentence until next month for reports.
