Marianne McJannett to raise funds for Glasgow hospice
Bellwether Green’s head of employment Marianne McJannett is taking part in (A Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing to help raise funds for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.
She has been paired up with Craig Murdoch and is learning a routine which she’ll then perform in front of hundreds of people at the Hilton in Glasgow on 16 March 2024.
The hospice is a charity very close to Ms McJannett’s heart, with her grandmother having passed away in their former Carlton Place premises in April 2009.
She said: “I was in my final year at the University of Glasgow studying law when my granny was taken in to the hospice as a patient. During her time there, the hospice became a second home for us all, and it was a warm, inviting, and calm place for me to come to after a long day in the library. She passed away the week before my final exams started.”
As well as the huge task of learning to dance, Ms McJannett is hoping to raise at least £3,000 for the hospice to support patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Each year the hospice cares for 1,200 patients and their families, and to allow them to deliver their excellent care, they rely on donations and volunteers.
