Mark Lazarowicz joins Terra Firma Chambers

Terra Firma Chambers has announced that Mark Lazarowicz (pictured) has joined the stable today.Since calling to the bar in 1996, Mr Lazarowicz has established a varied civil practice specialising in housing, local government, social welfare, equalities, and other fields of public law, along with property and environmental law. He is regularly instructed in judicial review proceedings, and has been instructed in immigration, consumer rights, and reparation matters.

From 2001 to 2015 he served as Member of Parliament for the Edinburgh North & Leith constituency, during which time he had both front bench and back bench experience, and was an active member of a number of select and standing committees.

His activity in Parliament focused on environmental, energy, climate change, financial services, and constitutional issues. From 2008–10, he was the Prime Minister’s special representative on carbon trading, publishing a report in 2009 on “Global Carbon Trading”.

He also has extensive local government experience having served as leader of Edinburgh Council from 1986 to 1993.

Mr Lazarowicz said: “I am delighted to be joining Terra Firma Chambers, which is recognised as a centre of excellence in all areas of property, planning, commercial and administrative law.”
