MBM Commercial’s Alexander Lamley admitted to New York bar
MBM Commercial’s Alexander Lamley has been admitted to the New York bar.
Mr Lamley began working towards his qualification in early 2019, studying over weekends and doing 50 hours of pro bono work. He made two trips to the US to sit exams.
Tracey Ginn, US and UK corporate partner and head of the US team, said: “The US market is the most valuable country for Scottish exports, at £5.5 billion, and Scotland is the most attractive location outside of London for foreign direct investment.
“When looking to do business in the US, how an organization structures, staffs and incorporates can have huge implications for liability, tax, and costs. Over the last year we have seen increased demand for our US practice and have advised on several high value investment and M&A transactions.
“With Alex’s admission to the New York bar, we offer a US practice unparalleled in Scotland, with no other firm able to provide dual qualified attorneys as members of the locally-based team.”
Ms Ginn practised law for 14 years in California at Polsinelli before returning to Scotland to set up MBM’s US practice. The rest of the team consists of Mr Lamley (Scotland and NY qualified); Islam Abdelal (England and California qualified) who covers corporate law; Danielle Prado (England and Texas qualified) who covers US contract and data protection and Olivia McLaren (New York attorney) who covers US immigration.
