MBM Commercial’s charity dinner raises an incredible £10,000 for Maggie’s

MBM Commercial LLP, together with Chiene & Tait Accountants, held a charity dinner at MBM’s offices last week to raise money for Maggie’s in Edinburgh, which provides support to cancer patients and their families.

The dinner was the brainchild of Cat MacLean, a partner and head of dispute resolution at MBM, who had wanted to do something for Maggie’s to say thank you for all of the support provided by them when she underwent treatment for cancer four-and-a-half years ago. She was supported by several others across both firms whose lives have also been personally affected by cancer.

The assembled guests heard from Mark Evans MBE, a desert and polar explorer, who spoke about a recent expedition through the Rub’ Al Khali, also known as the “Empty Quarter” – the first expedition in 85 years to cross the world’s largest desert.

The 35-guest dinner raised a staggering £10,105.

Ms Maclean said: “I would like to say a huge thanks, on behalf of the MBM and Chiene & Tait teams, to everyone for coming along, for making it such a fun night, and for digging deep and donating so generously.

“Sitting at my desk the next morning surrounded by bank notes I couldn’t quite believe what we had achieved – what an incredible sum. I am absolutely over the moon and so pleased to be able to give back to Maggie’s.”
