McEwan Fraser reveals Scottish football ambitions
McEwan Fraser Legal has announced its intention to be the most visible business in Scottish football.
The firm aims to focus particularly on clubs that are at least partly owned by supporters.
It recently finalised a shirt sponsorship deal with Motherwell, following on from deals with Dundee United, Dundee and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The Well Society has a 76 per cent share in Motherwell while last week, Club 1872, the Rangers supporters’ group, became the second largest shareholder in the club.
In addition to paying for its logo to appear on kits, the sponsorship deals also involve campaigns bringing supporters and players closer together.
Ken McEwan, chief executive, said: “Supporters are key. If the fans are not content, they won’t attend games and that will have a negative impact on the finances of the club.”
The firm has used its deals to launch fan-centric initiatives, including #HomeRun, which saw players deliver replica kits to supporters’ homes and #HomeAlone, where ex-players joined fans unable to make it to away fixtures to watch matches at organised screenings.
