Mr Cox will be based in BTO’s Edinburgh office, focusing on corporate law generally, particularly in relation to advising SMEs.

He will be working closely with BTO’s wider corporate team and the firm’s commercial property and employment teams, as well as addressing the corporate aspects of family law and other corporate legal work for individuals.

David Gibson, BTO’s chairperson, said: “We have been keen to expand our corporate presence in Edinburgh for some time and, in addition to offering impressive experience and ability, Michael brings enthusiasm and a wide contact base that will allow us to hit the ground running and better service corporate clients in that part of the country and further afield.”

Mr Cox said: “I am excited to have joined the BTO corporate team. This firm has the resources and expertise to advise businesses in a wide spectrum of services and sectors and it already has a well-respected corporate team in Glasgow.

“I am looking forward to advising BTO’s existing client base and to growing its corporate practice in the east.”
