Mission accomplished for Pinsent Masons Glasgow fundraisers

Staff at Pinsent Masons’ Glasgow offices went on a festive mission to raise funds for a homeless charity.

A combination of fun activities resulted in £1500 plus four boxes of winter clothing being donated to the Glasgow City Mission.

Established in 1826 and recognised as the world’s first City Mission, the charity supports vulnerable adults and children by fighting against poverty and disadvantage in Glasgow.

A number of staff at the firm’s St Vincent Street and Bothwell Street offices gave up their traditional Secret Santa present-giving and instead made donations which totalled £900. With generous support from outdoor clothing firm Trespass, the money was used to purchase 64 high-quality sleeping bags for GCM.

Kirsty Cowan, projects and regulatory assistant and semi-professional photographer set up a festive photo booth and staff were able to show off their Christmas sparkle in a huge range of seasonal outfits and novelty props for a small donation. Together with a collection on Christmas Jumper Day, a further £548 was raised for the Mission.

Cathie Higgins, projects and regulatory officer, said: “Everyone got into the Christmas spirit and we had great fun in raising money for the Glasgow City Mission, which is one of our firm’s nominated charities and does so much good work in and around the city.”

Post-Christmas, an appeal for unwanted presents resulted in four large boxes of hats, scarves and gloves winging its way to the Mission’s headquarters in Crimea Street.
