Morton Fraser raises over £19,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support
Classic fundraising activities including raffles, coffee mornings, dress-down days and a Burns night have helped Morton Fraser raise an impressive grand total of £19,212.35 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Proving that sometimes tried and tested methods are the most effective, people across the firm’s Edinburgh and Glasgow offices undertook a series of fundraising events, which also included ice-bucket challenges, a Christmas Fayre, pancake day and a sponsored abseil, to support Macmillan, its nominated principal charity for 2015.
Chris Harte, chief executive at Morton Fraser said: “Our fundraising efforts last year were about doing the things that people enjoy and can relate to and I think our total amount raised, which exceeded our target, proves that this approach can often provide the best results.
“We know that our people value being able to give something back to the community and supporting the great work which Macmillan do is one way in which we can do that.”
Jayne Forbes, fundraising manager, Edinburgh at Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “We are hugely grateful to Morton Fraser staff and their clients for the range of fundraising activity they took part in, enjoyed, and, in some instances, endured.
“In Scotland, there are now 220,000 people living with cancer and 30,000 people hear the devastating news that they have cancer every year. The Macmillan team is there every step of the way. From the nurses and therapists helping people through treatment to the campaigners improving cancer care.
“The total raised is astounding and will help us reach more people affected by cancer, so no one has to face it alone.”
