Morton Fraser reappointed to City of Edinburgh Council legal panel
Morton Fraser has been reappointed to provide legal services to the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC).
The contract is for an initial two-year period with two further optional 12-month extensions and follows a competitive tendering process. The reappointment will see the firm provide commercial, property and planning, and litigation services to CEC. The legal framework can also be used by East Lothian, West Lothian, Midlothian and Stirling councils.
The news follows Morton Fraser’s reappointments to the Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council legal panels, which was announced in May this year. Five further councils are able to use this framework: Highland, Orkney, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Shetland and Moray.
Rory Alexander, planning and local government partner at Morton Fraser, said: “This is a fantastic result for our public sector team, and we are really looking forward to continuing our work with the City of Edinburgh Council for at least another two years.
“Scotland’s local authorities face a multitude of challenges in what is a transformative time for the sector, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with not only the City of Edinburgh Council, but also East Lothian, West Lothian, Midlothian and Stirling Councils in terms of this appointment.”
