Neilsons Solicitors & Estate Agents begins foodbank appeal
Neilsons Solicitors & Estate Agents has begun its annual foodbank appeal in the lead up to Christmas.
Due to the ongoing cost of living crisis, the firm has opted to begin its appeal earlier this year and to ramp up its overall fundraising efforts.
The Edinburgh Food Project is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Neilsons will be collecting food donations on behalf of the Edinburgh Food Project, together with cash donations via Justgiving.
There will be drop-off points at its Corstorphine, City Centre, South Queensferry and Bonnyrigg offices and items can be handed in at any time between now and December 16 2022.
- 138 and 142 St John’s Road, Edinburgh, EH12 8AY
- 2a Picardy Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3JT
- 37 High Street, South Queensferry, EH30 9HN
- 72 High Street, Bonnyrigg, EH19 2AE
Furthermore, on December 5, a team of staff will attend the Edinburgh Foodbank Project warehouse to assist the volunteers with the day-to-day running of the foodbank.
The firm will also be organising the Neilsons Cup, which will take place on Sunday 20 November. This will involve over 100 local kids taking part in a seven-a-side football tournament, put on by the firm, together with its partnership with Hutchison Vale. The tournament will be free for all kids, with prizes for the winning team and player of the tournament. The firms is encouraging parents to contribute to our appeal on the day, be this with cash donations or food parcels.
Aidan Tuohy is the partner at Neilsons Solicitors & Estate Agents who initiated the appeal.
He said: “This year’s appeal has already been supported far and wide by clients, suppliers and colleagues in the wider profession. We are incredibly grateful for all the generosity, donations and the huge number of food donations handed into our offices so far.
“We have raised over £3,000 on JustGiving so far for the Edinburgh Food Project and we hope to raise even more for this great cause. This would not be possible without the dedicated and caring staff at Neilsons who have given up many hours of their free time to assist with this project in a number of different ways including the 7 Hills Challenge. We are very much looking forward to continuing our fundraising in the run up to the Christmas period and would be very grateful for any further donations from the wider legal profession.”
