UWS unveils new LLB degree

A new Scots Law degree will start at the University of West of Scotland’s (UWS) Paisley campus in September 2025.

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme is a four-year degree with the potential to be undertaken part-time over a six-year period and is fully accredited by the Law Society of Scotland.

The LLB has been designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Scottish legal system, associated practices and principles with students benefitting from UWS’s expertise and legal specialism in areas like International Humanitarian Law in Practice, International Criminal Law, Public International Law, and Tribunal Skills.

Dr Carolynn Gray, head of division of accounting, finance and law at UWS, said: “The introduction of our Scots Law degree programme marks an important milestone for UWS. This programme offers students the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the Scottish legal system, while also engaging with critical areas such as international law and legal advocacy.

“Through a combination of academic excellence, practical skills development, and a strong commitment to social justice, we aim to prepare graduates who are not only highly capable legal professionals but also agents of meaningful change in society.”
