Opening of legal year to be livestreamed

The opening of the legal year is to be livestreamed for the first time from the Court of Session.
On Monday 23 September, the ceremony to mark the beginning of the 2024-25 term will be available to watch as it happens on the Scottish Courts and Tribunals website.
In his final opening of the legal year ceremony before retiring, the Lord President, Lord Carloway, will begin proceedings with a speech looking at development and reform across the justice system.
The newly appointed King’s Counsel will also be welcomed at the ceremony.
The livestream will begin at 10am.
