Parliament House to host court history exhibition

An exhibition exploring Scotland’s highest courts will be held in Parliament Hall during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year, the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service has announced.
“Parliament House, The Hidden Gem” will invite the public to find out more about the story and traditions behind Scotland’s supreme courts through colourful, life-size panels detailing their history, traditions and work.
The exhibition was created to mark the completion of the five-year £58 million refurbishment of Parliament House, which modernised the 700-room building while preserving its traditional courtrooms.
Parliament Hall is the oldest part of the building, which was completed in 1639 to serve as home of the Parliament of Scotland until the Act of Union 1707, making it the oldest extant purpose-built parliamentary building in the British Isles.
The new exhibition will be open weekdays, 10:30am – 4pm as venue 402 for the Fringe from 7 August to 25 September.
It will then return for Doors Open Day on Saturday 26 September.
