Participants sought for unfitness for trial research
A doctoral student studying the concept of unfitness for trial is looking for research participants from the legal profession.
Danielle Dyason, a PhD student in clinical psychology at Edinburgh University, is looking at legal and healthcare professionals’ views on the definition, terminology, utility, and assessment of unfitness for trial in Scots law.
She said: “I am using Delphi methodology to build consensus on professionals’ views and experiences, which involves completing rounds of online questionnaires. With no standardised fitness for trial assessments and limited research around this in Scotland, it is hoped that the present study will highlight any strengths or difficulties with the current process and identify any similarities or differences in the way that healthcare and legal professionals utilise this.”
