Pinsents trainee Poppy Mulligan wins justice award
Pinsent Masons trainee Poppy Mulligan has been awarded the Champion Individual Award at the Champions of Justice Awards 2020 for her pro bono work with individuals on death row.
She studied for the LLB at Glasgow University and for an LLM at Cornell University. While studying for her diploma she had a fellowship based in South Carolina working on capital defence cases.
She said: “I’d like to thank Amicus ALJ and the selection committee for all of the hard work they put into the event and the insightful ‘40 Years to Freedom’ panel in honour of [former death row inmate] Bobby Moore and his moving battle for freedom.
“Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual event, I look forward to (hopefully) celebrating the work of Amicus in person next year and raising a glass to all of the inspiring law firms and individuals committed to this cause.”
Poppy has written about her work on death row for SLN.
