Professor Cairns delivers lecture on slavery and the law in 18th Century Scotland

Professor John Cairns has given the first of the Alan Watson Memorial Lectures, entitled “Slavery and the Law in Eighteenth Century Scotland.”
The lecture series is named in honour of Professor Alan Watson, who served as professor of civil law at the University of Edinburgh from 1968 to 1980.
The legal academic, who remained an honorary professor at Edinburgh, passed away in Athens, Georgia, USA at 85 last November.
