Professor Colin Reid appointed a patron of the UK Environmental Law Association
Professor Colin Reid of Dundee University has been appointed a patron of the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA).
UKELA exists to further the enhancement and conservation of the environment in the UK and advance the education of the public in all matters relating to the development, teaching, application and practice of law relating to the environment.
It involves all those who work with environmental law, both lawyers – in the public and private sectors and academia – and those in other professions whose work involves dealing with the law, including those in the energy, construction and waste industries and environmental consultants.
It is not a campaigning group but engages closely with governments across the UK to ensure that developments in environmental policy take account of the legal dimension and to identify where the law could be working better.
Professor Reid is a founder member of UKELA, having been part of the earliest meeting in 1986 before the formal foundation in 1988 and is an active member of its Scottish and nature conservation working groups and Brexit task-force. He recently spoke at its Scottish conference.
