Rachel Moon promoted to partner at Govan Law Centre
Govan Law Centre (GLC) has announced the appointment of Rachel Moon as a partner in the firm of Dailly, Moon & Co., Solicitors at Govan Law Centre.
Mike Dailly, principal solicitor and solicitor advocate, said: “Rachel has been a senior solicitor at the law centre for a number of years heading up our Govanhill Law Centre which provides a wide range of vital legal services for one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Scotland.
“Rachel has led on work including tackling discrimination, supporting the rights of disabled clients, working with local carer’s groups and providing essential services to prevent eviction, homelessness and tackling housing disrepairs.
“Rachel’s contribution to GLC has been first-class and she is an outstanding social welfare lawyer. Her appointment as partner strengthens our senior management team, along with Candy Walker and myself.”
Ms Moon said: “I joined Govan Law Centre 10 years ago almost to the day and have worked at the Govanhill office since that time.
“It is a huge privilege to do the work we do and to work alongside colleagues who go over and above every day to try and make things easier and better for vulnerable clients.
“I have learnt so much over the years: from clients about resiliency and strength; and from colleagues about perseverance and empathy. I love this job. To be made a partner is a real honour.
“Going forward, in times where organisations are struggling with capacity to take on new clients, we will be looking to ensure that we are focused on helping the most in need and that our doors are never shut to those seeking emergency help.
“We will be looking to step up to the challenges those with disabilities face with budget cuts and to ensure that some of our most disadvantaged are not the most exploited.”
