Renewables and commercial property specialist joins Brodies’ real estate department
Onshore renewables and commercial property specialist Kirsty Macpherson is to join Brodies’ real estate department.
Ms Macpherson, an award-winning lawyer who previously led the energy, climate change & natural resources group at Gillespie Macandrew, will bring her specialist expertise to the renewables and land & rural business teams of Scotland’s largest law firm.
Ms Macpherson, who is due to join Brodies by the spring and will be based at the firm’s Edinburgh office, has over 10 years’ experience in the energy sector, specialising in onshore renewables and the commercial aspects of rural property.
She has advised on a number of complex wind and hydroelectric projects for developers and landowners, and has particular expertise on crofting – regularly talking at conferences on the subject in connection with renewables.
She also deals with investment purchases and the sale and purchase of brownfield and greenfield land for residential and mixed-used developments.
Ms Macpherson is commended in the independent legal directories. She is a ranked individual in Chambers & Partners, which highlights her “wealth of legal knowledge”, while Legal 500 describes her as a lawyer who “motivates and inspires her team through personal example” and “really cares about her clients”.
Bill Drummond, managing partner of Brodies, said: “We are very pleased that a lawyer of Kirsty’s calibre is joining us, given her formidable track record and its relevance for the future of Scotland’s energy economy and our highly important rural economy. There is no doubt her skills will be in great demand among our developer and landowner clients.”
