SCLR: Maintaining Public Confidence in the Courts in the 21st Century

sclrThe Scottish Council of Law Reporting (SCLR) is pleased to announce the fifth Macfadyen Lecture: Maintaining Public Confidence in the Courts in the 21st Century

It is to be given at 6.00pm on Tuesday 23rd June 2015 by the Rt Hon. Beverley McLachlin, Chief Justice of Canada.

How do courts in the 21st century engage with the public and maintain their confidence? Chief Justice McLachlin will explore how courts navigate their relationship with the public and the other branches of government through the media, when it may be appropriate for courts to respond to criticism, and how courts may foster greater transparency through electronic media.

Entrance to the lecture (in the Wolfson Theatre, Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street, Edinburgh) is by invitation only.
