SCOLAG Legal Journal changes to online format
The SCOLAG Legal Journal is switching to an online format from January 2018, with a quarterly print edition.
The electronic edition of SCOLAG Legal Journal will be precisely the style and design of the existing printed journal, produced as a single PDF file. It will be distributed to subscribers by email on the first Monday of each month.
Then, each quarter the printed version will collate the articles and updates appearing in the three electronic editions and reproduce them in one single hard copy, distributed by post to subscribing members.
The more time sensitive features will be omitted and only be in the electronic editions. The news digest, current consultations, legislation update, and events diary will only be produced electronically, but editorial comment, letters, reports, articles, law updates and reviews will appear both electronically and also in print.
SCOLAG said in a statement that the fact the journal has survived is nothing short of what an editor termed “a minor publishing miracle”. Despite slender resources and voluntary authors, it has managed to keep going for over 42 years through successive booms and recessions.
As the first editor noted, on the occasion of this journal’s 25th anniversary, “Amidst all the glossy and image-conscious legal publications financed by corporate interests, there is still a need for a magazine that tackles the legal issues affecting the majority of people and highlights the lack of access to legal advice and representation.”
