Scot who realised dream US legal career reflects on success
A Scot working as a US lawyer has described her journey from Edinburgh Law School to a top American firm.
Speaking to GlobalLawyersConnect, Eilidh Reid recounts a journey that began with an exchange year at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law before an LLM at Duke University and ultimately a job with Kirkland & Ellis.
She says: “My journey has by no means been an easy feat – there have been many difficulties and obstacles along the way. From securing a merit scholarship at a top global law school; to moving across the Atlantic; to competing with top talent for a prestigious law firm job; to being faced with different testing norms; to navigating the US immigration system and so on. To overcome such challenges, I believe it is important to have a positive attitude and be mindful of what you have accomplished. When the next obstacle comes your way, you are more equipped to handle it.”
