Scotland’s first exhibition on women in law

Scotland’s first exhibition on women in law

Madge Easton Anderson

All are welcome to the Women in Law Project exhibition in the Royal Faculty of Procurators of Glasgow from 10-4pm Tuesday 12 September to Sunday 17 September.

This exhibition, taking place as part of the Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival 2023, will inform, inspire and may even infuriate.

Learn about the quiet girl from Pollokshields, Madge Easton Anderson, a University of Glasgow graduate who became the first woman to qualify as a lawyer in the UK in 1920, and read the aspirations of women in the Scottish legal profession a century on.

The Women in Law Project is an ongoing research and outreach project based at the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian University which explores the history of women in law in Scotland – from the early pioneers to today.

The mission is to research the past, document the present and advocate for the future of women in law in Scotland and the world. Please visit the website womeninlawproject.org. You can also contact the project team at info@womeninlawproject.org.
