Scots lawyer witnesses Barcelona terrorist attack
Scots lawyer Aamer Anwar (pictured) has described the events of yesterday’s terrorist attack in Barcelona.
Thirteen people died while dozens were injured after a van was driven into crowds in Las Ramblas.
Mr Anwar was in the Spanish city to speak at an event on Catalonian independence.
He told Scottish Legal News that he had been “very lucky” as he was about to sit down but decided it was too busy and kept walking on his way to buy his son a Barcelona football kit.
He said that the crash “happened seconds from where I had been and I ran when everyone ran - I heard screams and a crashing noise”, adding that the “Barca kit for my boy possibly saved my life”.
