Scottish Arbitration Centre moves to CA House
The Scottish Arbitration Centre is relocating to CA House, Haymarket, Edinburgh, home of ICAS (the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland).
The centre will offer facilities for arbitration hearings, mediations, conferences and other events from its new base.
ICAS is a global professional body for chartered accountants with 23,000 members and 3,700 CA students spanning industries and time zones.
The Scottish Arbitration Centre works to promote arbitration in Scotland and Scotland to the world as a seat and venue for international arbitration. It also offers an arbitral appointments service and provides training to practitioners.
Brandon Malone, chairman of the centre, said: “I am delighted that the Centre has a new home with our friends at ICAS and access to their excellent facilities for arbitration hearings and mediations. It is important that Scotland has such facilities, and we are ensuring that is the case, as we prepare to host ICCA Edinburgh, the largest and most prestigious international conference in the world, in September.”
Andrew Mackenzie, chief executive of the centre, said: “There are clear links between our two organisations. Chartered Accountants are often crucial to arbitration proceedings. For complex financial or commercial cases, parties often appoint Chartered Accountants as expert witnesses to provide evidence on their behalf. Therefore, we are delighted to be relocating to CA House as we continue to encourage the use of arbitration in Scotland.”
Bruce Cartwright CA, chief executive of ICAS, commented: “We warmly welcome the Scottish Arbitration Centre to CA House and we are delighted to provide them with access to our facilities for their arbitration proceedings.”
