Scottish Council of Law Reporting celebrates 200 years of Session Cases with postgraduate scholarship
The Scottish Council of Law Reporting (SCLR) will celebrate the first 200 years of publication of Session Cases in 2021.
The first case reported in the first series, Shaw, was Rev. Wm. Strang v Wm. McIntosh (1821) 1 S. 5, dated 12 May 1821.
To mark this milestone the SCLR has written to the heads of all the law schools in Scotland inviting applications from postgraduate students in Scotland who are studying or researching any aspect of Scots law for a scholarship to be awarded by the SCLR for the year 2020-21.
The amount of the award is £20,000, to be applied by the successful student to cover their course fees and as a contribution to their living costs during the year.
Postgraduate law students who think that they may wish to apply should, in the first instance, contact the head of their law school who will have further details of the scholarship. Applications should be received by the council before 3rd September 2020.
The SCLR hopes that the Session Cases Bi-centenary Scholarship may become an annual award. Other initiatives to mark the bi-centenary year are being planned.
