Scottish government spent more than £1m on Rangers litigation

The Scottish government has spent more than £1 million on the litigation involving the collapse of Rangers Football Club, a freedom of information request has revealed.
The figure is part of a total of more than £5.8m the government has paid in legal fees over the past five financial years.
Administrators David Whitehouse and Paul Clark – victims of a malicious prosecution – both received more than £10.5m in damages after they settled out of court with the Crown Office.
The Scottish government spent £937,284.83 on the cases. On Mr Whitehouse, it spent £510,223 while the figure for Mr Clark was £427,060.
It has spent £72,002 on advice in a case involving David Grier, who was also arrested. He is now suing the Lord Advocate and Police Scotland for £7m.
