Scottish Water make legal team appointments
Scottish Water has reappointed CMS Cameron McKenna and DLA Piper to their commercial legal team following a public procurement exercise.
The publicly-owned water company has also appointed BLM and Anderson Strathern for litigation advice, and Lindsays and Anderson Strathern for conveyancing.
CMS (and the former Dundas & Wilson, which joined CMS in May last year) has advised Scottish Water since the body was created in 2002, and DLA Piper was appointed to the panel in 2010.
BLM and Lindsays were previously on Scottish Water’s panels but this is a new role for Anderson Strathern.
All of the firms have been appointed for an initial three years, which can be extended to six years to coincide with Scottish Water’s new regulatory period.
The company has also appointed two new solicitors to its commercial legal team.
Nicola Galbraith, previously an associate with Tods Murray, has joined the team alongside Susan Hill, who joins from MacRoberts and will take a role advising on construction law.
Both solicitors will report to senior commercial lawyer Ramsay Milne.
John McKinlay, partner at DLA Piper, said: “We are delighted to be appointed as one of the principal advisers to Scottish Water.
“The coming years will see continual change and innovation in the water industry, and we look forward to working with the team at Scottish Water during this exciting period for the sector.”
Susan Law, Partner in Lindsays’s commercial property team, added: “We have been acting for Scottish Water for five years now providing legal advice on all types of property matters so are delighted to be able to maintain this relationship.
“We look forward to continuing to work with this well-regarded public body and to use our expertise to help Scottish Water continue to deliver a high standard of service to its customers, develop its renewables agenda and invest in Scotland’s water and drainage infrastructure.”
