Second Brodies lawyer achieves professional negligence accreditation
A second solicitor advocate at Brodies has been accredited as a specialist in professional negligence law by the Law Society of Scotland.
Beverley Atkinson who joined Brodies in 2001, has become only one of nine Scottish solicitors with the accreditation, while Brodies becomes one of only two firms in Scotland to have two accredited specialists in the area.
Ms Atkinson is an associate in Brodies’ professional indemnity team.
She is dual-qualified in both Scottish and English law and has specialised in professional negligence litigation for several years, advising a range of professionals and their insurers.
Following today’s announcement, Ms Atkinson said: “I am very pleased, both professionally and at a personal level, to have been recognised as a specialist in professional negligence law by the Law Society.”
She said: “I am grateful also to Brodies, and in particular, to our professional indemnity team, for their support in my achieving this.”
Brodies partner Alisdair Matheson, who is also accredited, added: “Beverley’s well-deserved achievement cements Brodies’ position as a market leading firm in professional negligence claims.
“It represents a number of years’ hard work in often complex and high value litigation for a range of professionals including solicitors, surveyors and those in financial services.”
