Sexual abuse survivors left in tears after meeting with Angela Constance
Sexual abuse survivors left a meeting in tears after a minister failed to disclose how a support scheme would help them.
Alan Draper, from In Care Abuse Survivors, said survivors were distressed after the Education Secretary Angela Constance did not explain how they would be helped.
The news comes in the wake of the lifting of the time bar on survivors’ claims.
Mr Draper said: “Survivors present felt the support scheme was an attempt to buy off survivors rather than “the equable scheme” that was promised.
“Survivors were angry and distressed and some left the meeting in tears. Survivors said they will continue to fight the government to bring forward an an equitable solution.”
Susan O’Brien QC, chair of the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry, will make her first formal call for evidence today.
