Shepherd and Wedderburn lawyers appointed to senior roles at Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
Leigh Herd, an associate in Shepherd and Wedderburn’s construction disputes team, has been confirmed as vice chair of the Scottish branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in a brace of new appointments for the firm’s lawyers.
Ms Herd’s appointment as vice chair comes as colleague Alyson Shaw, a solicitor in Shepherd and Wedderburn’s property and infrastructure disputes team, assumes the role of honorary secretary.
With more than 17,000 members across 149 countries, CIArb is a global organisation representing practitioners involved in alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The institute provides education and training for arbitrators, mediators and adjudicators. It also acts as a hub for practitioners, policymakers, academics and those in business, supporting the promotion, facilitation and development of all forms of ADR.
Andrew Blain, managing partner of Shepherd and Wedderburn, said: “Congratulations to Leigh and Alyson on their appointments as Vice Chair and Honorary Secretary with CIArb. Leigh and Alyson’s wealth of experience in supporting Shepherd and Wedderburn’s clients in various forms of dispute resolution will serve them well and, on behalf of all at the firm, I wish them both all the best in their new roles.”
These appointments follow that of Chiara Pieri, a solicitor in the firm’s construction disputes team, as president of the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association.
