Shepherd and Wedderburn moves mountains for charity
Last year’s Push participants
The event involves walking, hiking or running 14, 20 or the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles across the rugged Pentland Hills, south-west of Edinburgh. The Push is held in support of St Columba’s Hospice, whose mission is to ensure that everyone within Edinburgh and the Lothians has access to excellent palliative care whoever they are, wherever they are and whenever they need it.
While 12 men and women, including a partner, fee earners, trainees and staff are dusting off their hiking boots to brave the unpredictable Scottish weather conditions, the remaining Shepherd and Wedderburn staff back at base camp have been busy helping the teams achieve their minimum fundraising target of £3,600 through a variety of activities.
Hundreds of pounds have been raised so far through an Olympics sweepstake, bake sale and office dress-down days, but the teams are hoping to reach their final goal through this week’s office book sale.
Shepherd and Wedderburn consultant, David Dunsire who organised this year’s participation in The Push said: “As a client of the firm and through personal experience, we know the excellent palliative care and support St Columba’s Hospice provides to patients and their families. It’s great to see such commitment from our teams who are taking on this gruelling challenge to help raise funds for the running costs of the hospice and support the development of volunteers and staff.”
