Shepherd and Wedderburn supports Trussell Trust foodbanks at Christmas
In the run-up to the festive period, staff at UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn stocked up on food and toiletry supplies to donate to their local Trussell Trust foodbanks.
For three weeks, collection points were installed across the firm’s Edinburgh, Glasgow and London offices, which, on collection day, were not only overflowing with day-to-day food essentials, such as pasta, cereal and canned good, but also toiletry items and festive treats for families to enjoy over the holidays.
Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Edinburgh staff alone managed to collect 256kg of food, which was enough to support 13 of the families visiting the Edinburgh North West and Central Foodbank with a nutritionally balanced food pack covering three meals for at least three days.
The firm’s donations were also gratefully received by the volunteers at the Hackney Foodbank in London, as well as the Glasgow South East Foodbank located at Govanhill, who were busy preparing festive packages for families in the local area.
The firm’s food collections were topped up with sizeable cash donations to support the running costs of each foodbank.
In Edinburgh, the money will go towards the purchase of a new van, an essential tool in moving the 77 tonnes of food collected annually around the city.
London’s Hackney Foodbank will use the donation to help facilitate its planned warehouse move.
