He was a former president of the Sheriffs Association in Scotland and was co-author of the first edition of The Law Relating to Parent & Child in Scotland and acted as a consultant on the second edition. “His influence on that book was profound, and continues”, said Professor Kenneth Norrie.

Sheriff Wilkinson was the beloved husband of Wendy, adored father of Jenni and Alan, father-in-law to Laura and Bill and much-loved grandfather to Zara and Ben.

There will be a service of thanksgiving on 10 February 2023 at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathederal, Palmerston Place, Edinburgh at noon, to which all his family and friends are invited.
