Simpson & Marwick appoints real estate lawyer Jill Andrew as director
Residential property specialist Simpson & Marwick has announced the appointment of real estate lawyer Jill Andrew as a director.
Ms Andrew was previously part of the private client team at Shoosmiths, which said a review of its business strategy gave her the opportunity to transfer to Simpson & Marwick.
Experienced in residential property policy and procedure, Ms Andrew has represented high net-worth individuals, residential and commercial property clients and property developers.
Her appointment comes a month after Simpson & Marwick joined the Aberdeins Group in an amicable de-merger from Clyde & Co.
Richard Loudon, chairman of Simpson & Marwick, said: “The Simpson & Marwick brand and reputation is hard-wired into the Edinburgh and East Lothian residential property sectors and by adding specialists of Jill’s calibre to our brilliant team, we are sending out a message to clients and to our peers that we intend to remain the capital’s go-to legal services and estate agency firm for generations to come.
“As well as the multiple benefits of signing a property expert at the top of her game, we needed extra resources in response to a spike in demand for our services, and we will be looking to make further additions to the 275 years of experience which runs through the Simpson & Marwick team.”
Ms Andrew added: “I am excited about being part of a team which promises to be a breath of fresh air coursing through Scotland’s professional services sector and to playing a prominent role in the ongoing expansion of the firm.”
Janette Speed, Shoosmiths’ head of office in Scotland, said: “As a leading and progressive UK-wide law firm, we continually review our business strategy. Consequently, we recently made the decision to redouble Shoosmiths’ focus and resources to further leverage positive gains for our clients across the commercial, corporate and real estate sectors in Scotland.
“This in turn has presented an opportunity for Jill Andrew to move to the team at Simpson & Marwick. I am pleased that we have been able to conclude this transfer to the satisfaction of all parties and wish Jill and her new colleagues all the very best.”
