A new SLCC board member has been appointed.
Thane Lawrie joined the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) board this month. The appointment is for five years.
Mr Lawrie brings a wealth of experience to the board having worked in leadership roles across the third sector and public sector. For seven years he was the CEO of the charity Scarf, which focuses on helping people who were experiencing fuel poverty.
He is currently a non-executive director of the Scottish Ambulance Service, chairman of The Haven and vice-chairman of Scarf.
SLCC chair Jane Malcolm said: “I’m delighted to welcome Thane to join our board at what is a key time for the legal sector as legislation to reform regulation completes its parliamentary scrutiny. Thane will bring a wide range of key experience to our work as we look ahead to implementing much needed improvements to the complaints system.
“As well as driving the strategic direction of the SLCC’s work, board members make decisions on individual complaints, making this a unique, varied, challenging and rewarding role. I know all the board and our staff are looking forward to working with Thane over the coming years.”
