So you want to be… a judicial assistant
Monday 20 February at 6.00pm – SSC Library, Edinburgh
The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association is hosting an event for those interested in hearing what life is like as a judicial assistant at the Supreme Court.
Delegates will hear from:
- Chris Maile, head of HR at the UK Supreme Court.
- Ewan McCaig, formerly judicial assistant to Lord Hodge and Lord Lloyd-Jones in 2017-2018. He is now the assistant legal secretary to the Advocate General for Scotland. He was previously a solicitor within the Scottish government working on various Scottish Parliament bills and also has experience working as a research assistant at the Scottish Law Commission and completed a traineeship at a commercial firm in Scotland.
- Emma Ainsley, currently judicial assistant to Lord Hodge. Emma studied for her LLB at the University of Glasgow and then went on to the University of Oxford for the BCL. Emma has also held research roles at each of these institutions, working on projects in administrative and criminal law (both domestic and international). Following her studies, Emma worked at the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome, before coming to London to qualify as a solicitor. Prior to becoming a judicial assistant, Emma worked in the public & regulatory team at Bates Wells in London.
