Solicitor appointed to Scottish Labour justice team
Catriona Headley, solicitor at Digby Brown and former president of the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association, has been appointed to the Scottish Labour Party justice team as part of a new front bench line up.
She will work with shadow justice spokesperson, Graeme Pearson MSP, and his deputy, Elaine Murray MSP, on the justice and policing brief.
Commenting on the new line up, Scottish Labour Party leader, Kezia Dugdale MSP, said: “I want to use every opportunity I have to open up politics to new voices and challenging ideas. That is what this new team is all about. I’m bringing much needed experience in from outside Parliament to form a team that represents the whole of Scotland.”
Regarding her appointment, Ms Headley said “I am honoured to have been asked to serve in the justice team by Kezia and I can’t wait to get started.
“I look forward to reaching out to the legal profession and wider justice community to listen and learn about the issues that matter to them to better inform Scottish Labour policy and hold the SNP government to account.”
Ms Headley is also the Scottish Labour prospective parliamentary candidate for Edinburgh Western in the 2016 Scottish Parliamentary elections.
