Solicitor duo usher in New Year with new firm
Two lawyers who learned their craft at one of Scotland’s biggest legal aid firms have welcomed 2017 by opening their own practice.
Glasgow-based Rutherford Sheridan comprises Melissa Rutherford and Paul Sheridan, both formerly of Latta and Co where Ms Rutherford managed the criminal department and Mr Sheridan the children and civil departments.
Ms Rutherford qualified in 2010 and appears regularly at Sheriff Court level and also instructs counsel in the High Court. In addition, she is experienced in conducting proofs in the sheriff courts along with representing clients at children’s referral proceedings.
Mr Sheridan qualified in 2012. His main area of expertise is child law. He has attended hundreds of children’s hearings for clients throughout most of Scotland and has had particular success in grounds of referral proofs; permanence order proofs; and children’s hearing appeals.
Ms Rutherford told Scottish Legal News: “Our vision was to provide legal representation to everyone and make it accessible to all. We offer contact by social media messenger services and by Whatsapp as well as the traditional methods.
“We are contactable 24/7 and representation is available round the clock for urgent matters. We aim to ensure that our clients can access and communicate with us when and how it suits them. Rutherford Sheridan Solicitors started trading on 30th December 2016 and we can be found on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
“We are a modern, client driven and accessible law firm, with the right balance of experience and passion for representing our clients.”
