Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia: Administrative law update first in 23 years
The Administrative Law (2nd Reissue) has just been published in The Laws of Scotland: The Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia – the first update in 23 years.
The 2nd Reissue is the most comprehensive and up-to-date work on administrative law in Scotland and covers the principles of administrative law, statutory interpretation, the grounds, procedures and remedies of judicial review, statutory appeals and remedies, tribunals and ombudsmen.
Edited by Stephen Thomson, associate professor, ANU College of Law, The Australian National University and barrister and advocate Denis Edwards, it builds on the work of the late Professor Anthony Bradley QC and Professor Chris Himsworth, emeritus professor of administrative law, University of Edinburgh.
It is over 23 years since the previous reissue, meaning the latest edition has been comprehensively updated. This includes coverage of important administrative law legislation such as the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007, the Courts (Reform) Scotland Act 2014, and the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.
It also includes discussion of key administrative law cases such as Eba v Advocate General for Scotland [2011] UKSC 29, AXA General Insurance Ltd v Lord Advocate [2011] UKSC 46, and R (Gallaher Group Ltd) v Competition and Markets Authority [2018] UKSC 25.
