Standing junior counsel to advocate general for Scotland appointed
Graham MacIver has accepted the appointment as first standing junior counsel to the advocate general for Scotland effective from 1 April and Usman Tariq has accepted the appointment as second standing junior counsel on an interim basis from 1 April to 10 September 2024 – when the appointment of all standing junior counsel will come to an end.
Mr Maciver works primarily throughout the fields of public and administrative law, including principally judicial review, human rights and immigration law. His other areas of practice include commercial and regulatory law (directors disqualification and tax), personal injury and international law.
Mr Tariq has extensive experience of high-value and complex commercial disputes and public law litigation. His core areas of practice include contractual, intellectual property, insolvency, banking, company and professional negligence disputes. He also specialises in administrative and public law, including judicial reviews.
